SS ISO 50001:2018 – Energy Management Systems

The SS-ISO 50001:2018 gives Organisations the requirements for energy management systems (EnMS). It enables Organisations to improve energy performance, including energy efficient use and consumption through the integration of energy efficiency into management practices.
Competitive Advantages of ISO 50001:2018
- EnMS can enable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and other related environmental impacts and energy cost.
- Similar to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 14064 standards, SS ISO 50001:2018 follows the PDCA model. In the planning phase, energy reviews are conducted to establish the baseline, energy performance indicators (EnPIs), objectives, targets and action plans necessary to deliver results in accordance with opportunities to improve energyperformance and the organisation’s energy policy.
- Energy management action plans are then implemented, monitored and measured to determine energy performance, followed by actions for the continual improvement of the EnMS. Applicable across all industries, implementation of this standard can result in making better use of existing energy-consuming assets of the organisation, evaluating and prioritizing the implementation of new energy-efficient technologies and promotion of energy efficiency throughout the supply chain.
- Improved energy performance, increased energy efficiency and reduced climate change impacts
- Increased cost savings through reduced energy and resources consumption
- Assurance on commitment to environmental sustainability to external stakeholders
- Enhanced corporate image as an eco-friendly organisation
- Affirmation to employees on the environmental responsibility of the organisation
