Our Consulting team can help Organisations in smooth and effective transition from ISO 9001:2008 to ISO 9001:2015 by providing appropriate solutions
A quality management system (QMS) is defined as “an integrated system of various business processes aimed at the achievement of quality policy and quality objectives to meet customer requirements and achieve Customer satisfaction”. ISO has released the latest edition of the Quality Management Standard – ISO 9001- which is the ISO 9001:2015. This new version replaces the previous version – ISO 9001:2008 standard.
Competitive Advantages of New ISO 9001:2015
The ISO 9001:2015 standard specifies requirements for establishment, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of a Quality Management System and promotes it as a tool for improving overall performance.
It encourages more internal and external stakeholder focus as part of the adoption of a risk-based approach to quality management and emphasizes the importance of adopting a Quality Management System (QMS) as a strategic decision for an organisation.
What are the key changes to find in the new ISO 9001:2015 standard?
- The new ISO 9001 version has a common higher level structure and makes integration with other management system standards easier.
- The new version gives more importance to risk and emphasizes a risk-based approach. Risk will be integral to the entire quality management system. Preventive action from ISO 9001:2008 has been replaced by risk management and planning.
- ISO 9001 Documentation: The requirements of the new version are less prescriptive. It suggests more flexible documented information, where relevant information can be retained and can be made available when needed. This makes it more flexible for service-related Organisations.
- The new concept of Context of the organisation requires that the organisation while determining its environment should not only consider customers, employees and suppliers, but also those who get affected by their operations, for instance the communities in which they operate or may have significant influence.
